Makarimi Abdullah
I grow this orchids on 2006. I was climbed up to the hill with few friends and we found this orchid drops from broken tree. I'm so lucky....just beside the jungle trekking...no need to climb the tree to get it or even to pay a single cents. This orchids is Dendrobium farmeri var. pink - one of local best species.
For the first few month this orchid really hard to grow, because some of the roots already rot and most of the cane already dehydrated. Only a month later it's recovers, then become healthy and full of pots now. This is just second time this orchid blooming at my garden since 2006.
Last year this orchid not flower even in their season. FYI this orchid season is on February to May each year, but some times it's out of the season. I have many pots of this orchids in my garden, some of it consider specimen orchids.
Just captured the moments from the active flowers shoot about 4 weeks ago till she blooms...here is the blooming story of Dendrobium Farmeri var. pink. (I captured the pictures at different angle)

Lovely! You saved this precious orchid. I love the delicate flower sprays. Enjoy seeing the progression from bud to bloom. Amazing you can just find this hanging from a broken branch along a walk or the roadside! It truly is a joy to imagine as I look upon the vast white and cold landscape. Thank you!

  11. Carolyn> Thanks for commenting. It's very interesting for me to see the orchid start to bloom.

Rossie> Thanks to you too. I do appreciate your comments and drop by here.

b-a-g> Thanks for your compliments ;)

p3chandan> Start planting from the 'sick' plant to be healthy plant is so adventure. Patience is a must and the moments it's blooms - priceless!

James> Thanks so much for the nice words.

Diana> I wish I can collect the orchids through the jungle trekking in Sabah. But the rule, limits us to rescue and bring that orchid to Peninsular Malaysia. I have been in Gunung Kinabalu and around Sabah jungle trekking for more than 5 times and still wishing to visit again and again. Sabah is one of my favorite place in Malaysia.

Ron> Thanks for the nice words.

Dona> Thanks for drop by and commenting.

Carol> I do enjoy to see the progress of this orchid year by year. This amazing species normally bloom once a year. The progression from bud to bloom is something like a special gift to me.
