See right to the title of this post ... a little surprise? I want to say goodbye to my good friend when gardening. After so long close with me, proximity 2 times a week ... I had to let go. Approximately more than 6 years I use it in the garden. What I mean is ... Back-pack fertilizer / pesticide sprayer.

I just got a new friend ... a passion for gardening more orchids. I will get familiar with this friend after this. Working hard and durable ... heeheee. Last time i used 2 times a week, perhaps with a new friend , it becomes 4 times a week. Whatever grateful to old friends which contributed a lot ... and helped me to win many orchids competitions.

If story about fertilizer and pesticides ... something that becomes essential for the farmers, veggies farmers ,  fruits farmers and flower growers. Fungicide, pesticide and fertilizers will increase productivity and yields.

If you focus on orchids, fertilizing should be frequent enough to give substance to the flowering bushy and healthy, and quality. Only the quality, healthy and fresh orchid will be judged in a competition.

My experience in growing orchids, fertilizers and fungicide/pesticide regularly helps me to get a good quality, healthy and fresh orchids, and worthy to be crowned the winner in the competition. I was sprayed the  fungicide/pesticide and fertilizer once a week, which is fungiside and pesticides was alternate once a week. It is recommended to fertilize 2 times a week for optimal results. Last time I follow this schedule systematically , because in my collection just few hundred pots, but when it become almost thousand, its very difficult for me to spray my orchids systematically. It's so tired. Extreme tiredness.

So with a new friend, I will practice it again. New adventures just begin ... and I'll update the results from time to time.

As a guide to share ...

The first week, Wednesday-Fungicide
                        Saturday - Ferterlizer
The second week, Wednesday - pesticides
                             Saturday - Ferterlizer
The third week     Wednesday - Fungiside
                             Saturday - Ferterlizer
Fourth week        Wednesday - pesticides
                           Saturday - Ferterlizer

This is the schedule that I use. It will be changed to suit your weekly schedule.
Remember one thing! You need to watering your plants first before spray with fertilizer, fungicide or pesticide.

Good luck!

There have been many times my post focused on the orchid show. That is the most precious gift for each orchid enthusiasts.
How to grow orchids from scratch to presentable orchid for orchid show? Many methods has been used by the orchid collector, and every one has its own way.
I also learned this technique from my friends, and shared it here,  how the most effective and most successful way replant the orchid.
Roots of orchids requires adequate ventilation for healthy growth. So begins the life cycle of orchids with their roots, then the leaves and flowers. Without healthy roots, no leaves or new shoots. If no new shoot, no flower will grow.
This post will answer to questions from Autumn Belle and some friends, how I grow my orchids.
Replant is the beginning ... the rest is care. Light, air flow, food (watering and fertilizer) and medicine (fungicide / pesticide) for orchids.

What do you need?

    i. Cutter
    ii. Sulfur powder
    iii. Pot
    iv. Rope
    v. Hanging material
    vi. Orchid plant

- Cutter should be heating with fire, to kills the bacterias.
- Orchid will be deducted from the base of pseudobulbs (at the rhizome -the joint of the pseudobulb).

- Effects of cuts should be rubbed with sulfur powder to prevent infection.

- All the roots of the pseudobulb should be completely cut off, to encourage new root growth.

- Pseudobulbs is then bound to the material that has been hanging in the pack in the pot. This is to ensure that planted pseudobulbs are not moving on the pot. Good ventilation will assist the rapid root growth. Avoid putting the media (charcoal) in the pot.

- After root growth occurs, approximately 1 inch, charcoal will be placed in the pot. Root growth is dependent upon pseudobulbs are cut. Front reference pseudobulbs roots will grow normally after two weeks, the middle pseudobulbs 3-6 weeks and back pseudobulbs around 4-8 weeks or some times up to 4 months. Normally this pseudobulb can live until 5 years, depends on the genera and species or sub-species.

- Light during this period was approximately 70% of sunlight.
- Watering plant were once a day.

Respond and comments are welcome...may be you can share your method and experience replant your orchids.
Good luck.

Again on 31 Oct 2010, FOMOS successfully organize monthly show for October 2010 on 31/10/2010. This show was held @ Little Penang Street Market.
Coincidentally, this show overlap with the Kedah Floral Fest in Kulim, so this monthly show cannot attract many people to exhibit their orchids. Only 15 exhibitors joined in this show with around 110 orchid plants. Even not so many plants in this show, it attracts a lot of visitors to see the beauty of this amazing flowers.

It is quite a long time I'm not open my blog and blogging. I got fever and acute asthma....doctor said it is because of the changing season. At day extremely hot and by night got heavy rain. Today my health getting better and can go to work...and of course ...i can keep updating my blog.

Even not blogging i still keep my hand dirty at my orchid garden...the orchids make me feel happy and another reason because of the Orchid Show. I need to support the society in the orchid show.

Yesterday, Kedah Orchid Show start launching. Not many exhibitors bring their orchids, even the prize is good. Same with me...i just bring 8 plants only and the flowers quality not so good, usually more than 15 plants with good flowers quality. They said the weather not good, so the plants not have many flowers. The total exhibitors only 15 exhibitors with around 180 plants, normally for this big events the plants should be more than 300 plants. I just got 3 prizes in 3 categories and all are in Cattleya category.

To my friend: Kak Tini and Zul...Congratulation! Both of you won good prize in this Orchid Show.
